Ironhead Oil Line Routing

I got a 71 ironhead I ought it with just motor and trans and frame I got the bike ready to ride now just need oil lines ran i got two fittings behind the camcase/ sprocket cover. Pink=Vent from tank fitting to nipple on side of cam cover. Vent line from backside of cam case to the vent on the tank. So somebody who is redoing their oil. Ironhead sportster oil pump. And are you looking to run an aftermarket/remote oil filter? It's always best to post pics so we can see what you have or don't have. 79 Ironhead oil line routing??????????? 3 Vent (This hose is often 1/4" so that leaves only 2 hoses to figure out). Wasn't thinking like that. 9th October 2018. oil line routing-a thought.

Sportster/Buell Model #2: XLCH 1000. Sportster/Buell Year #2: 1972. A sticky needs to be made. Location: Columbus, Ohio. Red=Return (from nipple on top of case to back of oil. The lines on a lot of stock tanks all plumb into the bottom BUT, the return and vent lines have internal standpipes so the vent and return dump into the air space at the top of the tank above the oil. So how is this different on an older Iron head if any? Scuba's picture is like my '71 XLH line routing with one detail that might clarify things. Edit: I guess this thread does not help ya? What oil tank are you running? How many individual hoses are there, anyway? It's only 3 hoses, no rocket science needed. I was thinking of using a remote filter anyway so i f this is the best option i'll just do that. Prime the pump, then run without the filter till you see oil at the filter mount, install filter, then watch for oil returning to the tank. XL FORUM LIFE MEMBER.
