The characters are lots of fun, especially Daphne's older brothers, who are fiercely protective and also very funny. Daphne is the eldest daughter of the Viscount, but the fourth of her eight siblings. Simon grew into a good and kind man, but he was also deeply embittered and resentful toward his father after years of constant emotional abuse and had vowed never to marry or have children of his own because of it. And look - he knows we're talking about him. Sizzle, sizzle, sizzle*. Setting: Mainly London, England. Simon (understandably) becomes very angry and leaves. The Duke and I is the first book in Julia Quinn's Bridgerton series. Daphne: "Who would have thought I could be so terrifying? Moreover, she suffers no real consequences for her actions. Yes, there's serious reading, work reading and educational reading but fun reading is the best. Book v. Show: The Duke and I by Julia Quinn and Bridgerton Season 1. Simon: "Well, maybe roses. The TV version takes away the issue of Simon being drunk, but does still have Daphne take control of the situation so that Simon can't pull out when he wants to. It's a difficult scene to come back from, but I think Quinn handled it well. Simon: "It was Monday. Their conversations are witty and, except for a few situations, they both act like adults.
