Finn is an absolutely delightful character and her ability to travel freely between the different characters and see into their psyches and circumstances enables the reader to see things from her POV and feel the emotions through her, which I really liked. Finn can observe, hear, and even discern some of their thoughts and feelings, watching the scene unfold before her eyes as they move to secure her father then go about snugging in the camper van as best they can against the elements of the blizzard. "In the wake of a tragic car accident, the survivors are forced to make unimaginable choices in desperation to survive, spiraling into a heart-wrenching journey to live with those same choices afterward, forever haunting the ones they love and perceptions of self.

Everest, but the high average rating caught my attention. The end was a bit slower. But her family swears that she isn't their Lena. The novel is told from Finn's omniscient perspective as each character experiences both the accident and aftermath. The reason for the three stars is because the book didn't make me feel like I just couldn't stop reading. Because she was dead, she could see everything that happened, while the rest of the family only saw bits and pieces. We planned to never see each other again, but I should really know by now that plans don't work out the way they're supposed to.

It was hard to put down, such a fantastic listen, it has poignancy drama and laughter, a perfect mix and very well written. You may experience it with far different eyes than I did. But little by little, injustice by brutal injustice, the Nazi occupation takes hold, and Alina's tiny rural village, its families, are divided by fear and hate. But behind their shiny front doors, each has something to hide. Gorgeous doting husband Massimo, sweet little son Sandro and the perfect home. I want to read more from this author in the future. I wish the ends would have been tied up, but overall felt that this book was well written and covered these intense situations with relatability. 1-5) of the story were the days leading up to their trip before the accident occurs. The author does a breath taking job of narrating this story and demonstrating how fear changes people from someone you might have considered kind, into someone you wouldn't never trust. "The characters are sensitively portrayed, as is their recovery, and the hopeful ending is realistic. Because there are secrets buried in Alba that are best left in the dark.

But really, she's returned to repair her relationship with her teenage daughter, who's been raised by Juniper's mother and stepfather - and to solve the infamous Murphy murders. This will probably make my top three for the year. While I'm always down for a good laugh, I chose the book which makes me cry. Narrated by: Julia Whelan. And some truly earth shattering and unacceptable thing happens at that night: People make choices to save their loved ones in expanse putting the other ones' lives into danger.
