J&M Displays, a fireworks company, has partnered with cities like Urbandale and Waukee, but the company is taking a financial hit due to COVID. The city of Windsor Heights has canceled its fireworks show on July 4 at 9:40 p. at Colby Park due to rising COVID-19 cases in Polk County, the state of Iowa, and nationwide. Due to the pandemic, most of Waukee's Independence Day celebration is canceled, including the carnival and parade. From Perry to Minburn to Waukee, towns offer a variety of ways to celebrate with games, parades and fireworks. This family-friendly and patriotic concert starts at 8:30 pm and concludes with the area's premier fireworks display over the downtown Des Moines skyline, and best of all, it's FREE!
