They are quite heavy. Rider in Mind: I would recommend this for anyone that has leg or back issues and can't bend over to unstrap. Having the boot locked in to the highback seems to really up the response. This puts a lot of the burden for performance on the boots because they provide all the toe-edge support. If you prefer a softer, more flexible binding and boot combo, look elsewhere for now. It didn't happen everyday, but when it did it ruined the riding completely. There have been a few sticky topics in the history of snowboarding. Anyway, will let you know if my opinion changes over time, but right now they are solidly recommended. If you are in the middle of the suggested sizing you should be good but if you are on the upper or lower end you won't be able to center your boot in the binding and you won't always be able to center your boot on the board for more symmetrical response. Less flex means less fatigue allowing you to rip the hills longer.

I should go back to my old school Bindings, Vans Boots and a solid board company like salamon or K2 who really make a solid board based upon years of ski manufacturing. From what I have heard it is because there is a little bit of slack needed in the toe cleats, and the click is the boot jumping in different positions as the bindings flex, or as the boots rotate in the bindings. To release, there is a small lever on the highback that unlocks your heel. This concept, where you could just snap in and get on your way cruising down the mountain was awesome. Is it the end all be all? Not for beginners, IMO, just because they feel too stiff - at least with the Photon Step On boots anyway - but intermediate level riders should be fine. But I would also say that this is quite influenced by the boots I was riding too. There must something better than sitting on your ass and strapping into your bindings. ' All that adjusting and fiddling - who needs it?
