Surviving are her daughters, Janet Pearson Rager and Debbie Pearson Bolding and her husband, Michael, all of Morganton; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; five stepgrandsons; one stepgreat-granddaughter; brothers, Bill Thompson and Tom Thompson; and her first husband, Doyle Norman Pearson. He was born Nov. 28, 1944, the son of Carl and Winnie WORLEY BRASHEAR of Stilwell. He died at his home on Saturday, April 18, 1998. Mrs. POWELL was an active member of the First Assembly of God Church in Okmulgee. Pallbearers were Richard SMITH, Mike KELLY, Joel NOYES, Mike HEATON, Larry HENLEY and Tommy SMITH. Funeral services were held 10 a. Saturday at McConnell Funeral Home in Greenwood, with interment at Liberty Cemetery in Greenwood. Seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Newman Lee BRIGGS, son of John COOMBES and Mary Mae FOURKILLER COOMBES, was born Oct. 30, 1941 in Stilwell, Okla., and departed this life to be with his Lord after a lengthy illness at Sparks Regional Medical Center in Fort Smith, Ark., on March 3, 1998 at the age of 56 years, 4 months and 2 days. She was a lifelong resident of Adair and Cherokee counties. Honorary pallbearers were John GUINN, Leon KIRK and Gene HILL. Interment was at Spade Mountain Cemetery. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens of Lenoir. He was married to Clyde Kathryn Watt Hook for 64 years and was a longtime active member of Grace Baptist Church in Sumter.
