The show never had a concrete mythology to begin with, it felt like it was made up along the way with nothing to back it up. The story begins when Habaek, the God of Water, comes to Earth to find a stone that will help him be crowned king of the gods. Then since he is infamously powerful, he can visit So ah at his will.

It may be because we want to make ourselves feel better or less miserable.
