Use a small pick to pop them open (I used the 4 piece orange handle set from HF). Thought I'd include some tips/trick I noticed while doing this over the weekend. "Fully tighten, 8Nm (6 ft-lb) (10mm socket 3/8" / 3/8" torque wrench & extension). Spec is 89 in lb, 7. If you do have stripped holes I guess you best best would be re-threading if it's even possible given the location...

I just got done working on this on my car. That need to tighten to the specification of the manual. I never removed the valve cover but are all the screws the same lenght and size? Let me check my bentley. 2016 Chevy Silverado. Use a 7/8 socket to press down on them to fully seat them. So it's sticky enough to keep the gasket in the VC valley, but still slippery enough to prevent it from binding up when tightening (similar to lubing an oil filter gasket). This oil will weep from heat after you do the job and make it look like the VC is leaking again. Otherwise I'd say you might have stripped either the srews or the holes/nuts. I remove it in my car already. It's four E8 screws (see picture). Not like the cylinder head which is very important to your engine. You don't have to remove injectors. Before removing the heat shield, you may want to remove the boost solenoids. I believe it is 10nm. I'm wondering if it's the stud spinning. I believe it is very low. In other words, the nuts just bottom out. Hand tighten all of the VC bolts in the correct order a few times. Tighten until bolts/studs bottom out on head. If some of them are shorter or thinner maybe you've placed them wrong?

Remove the heat shield above the turbos and clean it up. Lifetime warranty, don't have to worry about broken bolts, and you know it's not cracked from heat cycling. Can someone please tell me the torque specs of the screw around the valve cover, I am working on this right now that [IMG][/IMG]. You can install the spark plug shields after installing the VC. Someone might have stripped them before you and just left'em in there that way.
