"The Watcher" is a 2022 Drama Thriller series created by Ian Brennan and Ryan Murphy. As Paul exits, the bat is still seen on the counter, but you have to look for it to spot it. In this instance, I found it somewhat easy to overlook the myriad of issues I thought about once the credits had rolled. Which is when we learn that the story that Steve had told previously was the actual end of the story (almost the end anyway), and so he continues in telling his story, but this time from the beginning. The bodies were found two weeks later by Jasper. Maybe there is a much deeper slight happening here… something that sent Steve to leave his father and his father's best friend years earlier. Although he has his phone, it's been hacked, and only sends messages to Amaya saying that he wishes he could sign better. One that's explained quite efficiently as well. Despite Paul's assurances that the narrative is not real, it has an impact on Steve. Is Steve a hapless victim in all of this? The place that once haunted him, the place where he murdered his entire family, why would he return to the house?
It sort of all clicks together though that Steve is the one behind it all. The Watcher wanted John to sacrifice young blood to the house because that is what the house wanted; that is what it needed. And Paul asks Steve this as well. This was what left Jasper scarred for life. Starring RJ Mitte, Peter Outerbridge and Ari Millen.
