Read from a list of ten books throughout the year and prepare for three rounds of questions at the Battle Competition! Questions about any aspect of Battle of the Books? If an answer or partial answer cannot be given by a team, the other team has five seconds to answer and get the remaining points for that question. Battle Of The Books Questions 2023
You may establish a team of two people or you may compete individually. Home-schooled students may not, however, form a team on their own. The books were each read, reviewed, and discussed by CLP Teen Specialists. Why are there four separate dates listed for Battle of the Books? We hope our state will have enough programs running in all of the regions to hold a statewide tournament within the next few years. Teams may not assign alternate players. Classroom teachers, reading specialists and library media specialists spend many hours choosing books and writing questions for each year's battles. If a team member has trouble inputting the answer within the allotted 30 seconds, another team member may be designated to be the answerer for them. Special note: Local battles should mirror the regional battle structure, so that teams going on to compete in that event are as prepared as possible. All copies of the questions must be destroyed after the battles have been conducted. Books are selected over a range of reading levels so that all students can participate. There will be four separate Battles, one for each of the following grade levels: 5th grade, 6th grade, 7th & 8th grade, and 9th – 12th grade. Become an association member of ABB, you may do this online via our website. Then have another staff member proofread it for grammar and readability. There is a final battle at the end of the year where finalists will participate. We understand the many types of learners and we believe that all students should be given the chance to participate. You don't have to be in the same class or grade, but remember only 3rd/4th graders can compete on the 3rd/4th grade lists and only 5th/6th graders can compete on the 5th/6th grade lists.

The team that sits on the left will be always be given first chance at the odd numbered questions, and the team on the right will always be given first chance at the even questions. In January, all schools that have signed up and paid for the questions will be sent those questions to use for their in-school battles. Participants will pay through tax credit in Infinite Campus. In order to be on the competition team, you must have read at least 5 of the books from the reading list. We list school districts or organizations that have participated in the past on our website, it is updated bi-yearly. Once the first competition has begun, team members MAY NOT be changed.
